The European and North American Live Festival for Up and Coming Bands

Semifinal club hosted yesterday the first qualifying round in Helsinki. Allow me to introduce The Flanger, who won by playing modern progressive rock with a virtuous hero-heavy touch. Granted the band is young, keyboard player aged only 15. This band is definatelly  looking towards a bright future provided they'll keep on working towards their own unique artistic flavour. Congratiolations Flanger.

Got into Good Schools - Can I Afford to take on the Challenge?

I was offered a place in Global Media and Communications Masters program at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and at the USC Annenberg School of Communications in Los Angeles. The aim of the degree is to provide an advanced academic and professionally oriented training in media and communications within a global context. The degree will address the study of media and communications as a global phenomenon and from global perspectives. It will introduce advanced theories in media and communications and research methods in the field. The programme will examine such questions as the role of media in the processes of globalisation and reflexivity, the globalisation of media and communications industries, and the implications of the globalisation of media and communications for community, identity, culture and for governance.

This program would be a natural continuum to my previous experience with local media, and Politics, Film and Creative Industries studies. After I finish my final undergraduate studies at the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />University of Greenwich I will have to start hunting for funding for two more years abroad. Do you have ideas who might be interested in procuring me into the challenge?  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

15th INTERNATIONAL WWW CONFERENCE

64893.jpg

No other event draws the breadth of business leaders, industrial technologists, academics and key standards bodies that shape the future of the World Wide Web. This year the www conference is held in Edinburgh Scotland. There were 667 research paper submissions of which 76 interesting ones were accepted. Weird in this is that there are no papers written from the media theory point of view nor papers that would work on how to develop the audiovisual qualities of the web.You still have time to participate in this mega event on 23rd-26th May.

Internet TV is Growing

In the last six months, major media companies have received much attention for starting to move their own programming online, whether downloads for video iPods or streaming programs that can be watched over high-speed Internet connections.

Perhaps more interesting — and, arguably, more important — are the thousands of producers whose programming would never make it into prime time but who have very dedicated small audiences. It's a phenomenon that could be called slivercasting.
